John’s translation of Today’s STD: “Your outward displays of wealth mean nothing to me when I see how little you do for others. Idiot.”

All I wanted was some wings. Wifey Poo and I were out on a date yesterday. We decided to go to the mall — because we’re ’80s kids and that’s what ’80s kids did on a Friday evening. And then we were going to get some takeout and go to a park to chill and talk.

I’d been wanting to try Popeye’s new chicken wings for a while, and so we went to the closest establishment. First, we sat unattended to in the drive-thru for 10 minutes. Then, we parked and went inside.

There were exactly two employees, which matched the number of customers waiting for their food when we entered. One, the gentlemen in the back, had the brain of the two. The guy who took our order was kind enough to lend it to him. He took our order once. Five minutes later, after kinda walking around in the back and bringing some deconstructed boxes to the front, he asked us, “What was your order again?” So we told him. Five minutes after that, he said, “I don’t think you can get chicken wings in a combo meal.” Wifey Poo pointed to the menu board behind him, where it read “Chicken wing combo meal.”

In total, it took us 30 minutes to get our food. The wings? They were OK. But nothing to wait 30 minutes for.

Needless to say, we won’t be going back.
