Something I’m looking forward to today: Taking Boy The Younger for his first job interview!

Something I’m looking forward to in the next seven days: Hosting my first DnD night. I’m excited.

Something I’m grateful for from yesterday: Watching the boys on my team support one of their own (awkwardly) at his grandpa’s funeral.

What I’m writing: Yesterday’s Two Crappy Pages involved no writing besides some angsty journaling.

What I’ve written: Gamifying Learning to Type: At first glance, Roxy Capron (MPD2 ‘24) and Patrycja Delcourt’s (MPD2 ‘24) capstone project seems a bit contradictory. Their goal is to create a product that teaches typing skills to children without introducing more screen time. And no, they aren’t talking about returning to typewriters.

There are times when I am pretty sure the ultimately destination of my life Here is a Unabomberlike cabin the Montana wilderness far, far away from people. These times seem to be more frequent the more time I spend out in the general public.

Yesterday was an example. I spent about two hours outside the house, traveling to the wake for the grandpa of one of the players on my baseball team. The roads are filled with loud morons. On the way to the wake, it was a mufflerless jacked-up pickup, of course bearing various pro-Trump/anti-Biden paraphernalia, zooming past me and then ducking in and out of other cars before ending up right next to me at the same goddamn exit. On the drive home, it was a Harley doing the same damn thing with the same result.

My goal is to take a quieter path through life, and sometimes I don’t think that’s going to be possible unless I make a radical departure from the status quo.
