- Day 1: Day in the Life, 2034
- Day 2: Tree
- Day 3: 10 and 90
Today’s Assignment: Identify your hard-set boundaries
The Deets: What are five things you’re willing to be disliked for? What is it you see differently from the majority? What do your answers indicate you’re most passionate about?
- Adolf Trump: I believe Donald Trump has the potential to be a modern-day Hitler and refuse to be in any sort of meaningful relationship with anyone who supports that assclown. There came a point in Nazi Germany’s history in which people had to take a side. Those who sided with Nazi policies aren’t remembered too fondly. I refuse to be a tactic approver of Trump’s bullshit and won’t mix with Trumpzis.
- Mental health advocacy: I refused to allow others to portray those with brain illnesses as flaky or weak. The brain is an organ and happens to be the least understood organ we have. Because of that, those with diseases of the brain are unfairly stigmatized and treated differently (and by that I mean “treated worse”) than those with a heart issue or kidney issue.
- The homeless: They are human beings, and none of us is more than three or four bad breaks away from joining their ranks, so maybe we can all chill the fuck out and stop making the lack of a home a criminal act, especially in this modern environment in which home prices have soared.
- The Fab Five: I would die to protect the Fab Five, which, in addition to me, is Wifey Poo, Boys the Elder and Younger, and Boy The Elder’s wife, DIL (daughter-in-law). As this unit grows, I will do whatever it takes to keep us united and learn from the destruction brought by my own father’s weakness. He cow-tows to my mother, who is extremely unhealthy, and in doing so he has allowed the destruction of my birth unit. I’ll never let that happen.
- Muricah ain’t so special: I know that the general national narrative is that These Here United States are somehow anointed by God to be different and special and a beacon of light to a weary world. I happen to think that is bullshit propaganda and that we willingly drink the Kool-Aid to justify some really dark shit that has gone on from Muricah’s founding through today. In general, we are the world’s worst bullies and our victims are most often those with darker skin. Nationalism and patriotism are dangerous forces that encourage people to check their brains and rational thinking at the door. So many people have died because of bullshit views on what God is commanding, and Manifest Destiny is perhaps one of the worst. Muricah might be OK, but it is far from great. Not today. Not ever.
I’m not sure what this reveal about me and my passions. I pretty much abhor people who don’t think and who believe whatever a talking head tells them is right and true. I’m also not fond of those who treat those outside the mainstream as less-than and those who ostracize people because they don’t understand why they are the way they are. Take the time to get to know people and you might not sound like such an ignorant dolt.
So yeah, pretty much my passions are a reaction to the way I was raised.
