The song in my head when I woke up: “Panama,” by Van Halen.

Favorite line from the song in my head when I woke up: Yeah, we’re runnin’ a little bit hot tonight

Space Trip Tunes: My bi-weekly space trip was taken to ….

Something I’m looking forward to today: My future daughter-in-law’s graduation.

Something I’m looking forward to in the next seven days: Boy The Elder’s graduation on Saturday.

Something I’m grateful for from yesterday: Finishing my time in purgatory with the Catholics.

What I’m writing: Yesterday’s Two Crappy Pages involved writing an article for a Johnny Boy Marketing client about a guy whose job is to help create programs that promote beneficial electrification.

What I’ve written: The Data Behind Life-Saving Drugs: Abby Young leans on what she learned through the MSIT program to manage the flow of information and extract the stories it is telling at Astellas Pharma.

Today’s Stoic Though of the Day: “Reflect then, that your ancestors set up those trophies, not that you may gaze at them in wonder, but that you may also imitate the virtues of the men who set them up.” — Seneca

John’s translation of Today’s STD: “Those monuments aren’t just there for you to be a dopey tourist and gawk at. They are there to get you off your lazy ass to go do something similarly worthy of admiration and reflection.”

For more than a year, two big things have been on our family calendar, two things that at first seemed so far off they didn’t deserve any real thought but that are suddenly now here.

The first happens this weekend. Today, my future daughter-in-law graduates Mizzou. Tomorrow, Boy The Elder follows in her footsteps. These two are amazing humans who have weathered a lot of storms. Their early relationship was marked by separation because of COVID. Then, BTE went away to Mizzou while the FDIL stayed home for a year of community college before joining him in Columbia.

Now, by the time I return to this very desk on Sunday morning, both will have their diplomas and be one step closer to the rest of their life.

Which leads to Thing Two: The Wedding. How is that now roughly three weeks away?
